The Microsystems Technology Laboratories (MTL) at MIT is proud to announce that Dr. Ulrich L. Rohde, Visiting Scientist at MTL, has been awarded the prestigious Bavarian Order of Merit, Germany, in recognition of his significant and sustained contributions to the field of microwave circuits and systems.
Conferred annually by the Prime Minister of Bavaria, the Bavarian Order of Merit is one of the highest honors bestowed in Germany. Established in 1957, the award celebrates individuals who have demonstrated exceptional scientific and humanitarian service to Bavaria and its citizens across science, culture, and public life. Notably, the distinction is limited to no more than 2,000 living recipients at any given time, underscoring the exclusivity and prestige of this honor.
Dr. Rohde, whose pioneering work has helped shape the development of modern microwave technologies, will formally receive the award in July during an official ceremony and reception hosted by the Bavarian Prime Minister.
The MTL community joins in congratulating Dr. Rohde on this well-deserved and distinguished recognition. His legacy of scientific excellence, international collaboration, and dedication to innovation continues to inspire students, colleagues, and researchers across disciplines.
