The Microsystems Technology Laboratories (MTL) is proud to announce that MTL Visiting Scientist Dr. Ulrich L. Rohde has received the Lifetime Achievement Award and an Honorary Fellowship from the Broadcast Engineering Society (BES), India, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of broadcasting, including the invention and validation of the Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology.
Dr. Rohde, internationally recognized for his expertise in microwave systems and radio-frequency engineering, was honored at the 30th International Conference & Exhibition on Broadcast & Media Technology (BES EXPO 2026), held on January 29, 2026.
The Broadcast Engineering Society (India) honors individuals who have made exemplary contributions toward advancing the Society’s mission. BES provides a vital forum for the exchange of ideas and technical knowledge, helping broadcasters keep pace with rapidly evolving technologies through conferences, seminars, tutorials, and exhibitions.
