Yu-Hsin Chen, a graduate student in Vivienne Sze's group, received the 2019 ACM SIGARCH - IEEE-CS TCCA Outstanding Dissertation Award at ISCA 2019, which recognizes excellent thesis research by doctoral candidates in the field of computer architecture, for his “contributions to efficient and flexible dataflows and architectures for deep learning acceleration.” These contributions were demonstrated through Eyeriss v1 and v2. He also received the 2018 Jin-Au Kong Doctoral Thesis Prize for outstanding doctoral thesis in Electrical Engineering at MIT. This research was performed in the Energy-Efficient Multimedia Systems Group; Yu-Hsin was co-advised by Professor Vivienne Sze and Professor Joel Emer.

Yu-Hsin's thesis "Architecture Design for Highly Flexible and Energy-Efficient Deep Neural Network Accelerators" is available at https://dspace.mit.edu/handle/1721.1/117838
Yu-Hsin's thesis defense is available as part of the MTL seminar series at https://www.mtl.mit.edu/seminars/architecture-design-highly-flexible-and-energy-efficient-deep-neural-network-accelerators
