Model Faculty Profiles: The .RTF
Below is an example of a properly-formatted faculty profile using the correct publication styles for all listings shown with the proper capitalization, abbreviations, and attention to detail in punctuation, spacing, and italicization that we ask for in the faculty profile.
Model Faculty Profiles: Final Document
Below is what the faculty profile will look like when formatted for print.
- The research interests and contact information block are located on the first page, condensing the entire document into two pages (Profile + Theses awarded).
- There is a maximum limit of three lines of text for your research interests statement.
- We don’t request a list of research collaborators.
- Please list undergraduate researchers.
- Include first names instead of initials for personnel listings.
- Publications are labeled “Selected Publications” due to the space limit.
- We ask that you include each graduate’s department affiliation and date of award in the Theses Awarded section.
The Faculty Profile comprises two sections:
- Faculty Research Staff, Publications, and Research Interests is a one-page list of the group personnel and selected publications. Research Interests is a 25-50 word description of the group’s research interests.
- Theses Awarded is a list of theses awarded in the present academic year.

Name and Title
Please use your official title. For example:

Please write out the department name in full. Do not abbreviate. For example:

Research Areas and Special Interests
The "research areas and special interests" statement is a brief 25-50 word paragraph describing your research interests. Do not personalize.
CORRECT:
Superconductive nanodevice physics and applications; nanofabrication methods, processes, and tool-development for application to quantum computing and single-photon detection.
INCORRECT:
My specialties are in the study of the physical properties of organic and organic/inorganic nanocrystal composite thin films and structures, and the development of nanostructured electronic and optoelectronic devices. I am also interested in the applications of nanostructured materials in large-scale technologies.
Postdoctoral Associates, Graduate Students, Undergraduate Students, Visitors, and Support Staff
One name per line. For students and visitors, academic department affiliation should follow the name after a comma. If the student has a named fellowship, please indicate. For visitors, their affiliation should follow their name after a comma. For support staff, the job title should follow the name after a comma.

Publications
The publication formatting style is here. Only publications from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, should be listed.
Theses Awarded Styles
The thesis should be sorted in a table by degree type, with formatting as shown below. Only include theses awarded from July 1, 2023–June 30, 2024. If there are no theses awarded to report, you may leave this table blank.

File Naming Convention for Faculty Profile
The Faculty Profile file should be named lastname_firstname.doc. Please keep file names in lowercase letters with no spaces.
